This article is about the location in Cyberpunk 2020. For other uses, see Bank (disambiguation).

Bank Block was a district of Central Night City, located in the middle section. It was considered part of the City & Corporate District.

Overview

Bank Block was designed as the financial center of Night City, where the majority of banking facilities that the corporations depended on where located. While the neighboring Corporate Center was considered the brain from which the money was created, Bank Block was the heart where it was safekept. For these reasons the district was always clean and secure; as long as you had the resources, you could keep the worst of the city away.

Major financial institutions with offices here included First Bank of Night City or the Fujiwara Bank, while it was also the home of other important services such as the Stock Exchange and Trade Center or the most luxurious hotel in Night City, the Ashcroft Hotel. Bank Block also housed the Japanese Consulate and the Federal Building. NCTC bus connections to other parts of Central & South Night City were available through lines 17, 22, 23, 68 and 72. NCART connections with the metropolitan area were available as well.[1]

During the Fourth Corporate War, most companies left while Militech and Arasaka fought each other. During an assault on the nearby Arasaka Towers, a nuclear device went off, causing the Night City Holocaust. This event destroyed much of the City & Corporate District, turning the area into what would be known as the Hot Zone. The ruins of the Old Bank Block were part of that wasteland.[2]
