Haruko Kanawa

Haruko Kanawa is a character in the Cyberpunk universe.
Appearance
Haruka is described as a tall, buxom, gorgeous, and classically cool-manered woman with short black hair and brown eyes. While on an operation, she wore a black leather body suit and gunbelt, often described as a cross between a leather fantasy and SS nightmare.[1][2]
Biography
Early life - 2021
At some point in the 2010s, Haruko became the lieutenant of a high-ranking Arasaka corporate known as Seiji Okano, acting as his chief enforcer. She was privy to Okano's plans of an Arasaka coup, and was counting on being made chief of his security and corporate army if his plan had succeeded.
In 2020, Haruko was considered a skilled and ruthless solo in the corporate ninja style. During the Clone debacle, Haruko's orders where not to fight a group of mercenaries directly or do anything that would put the life of Adriana — the clone — in danger. Instead, she attempted to negotiate with them rather than leading to a possible fight. Okano offered the mercs a deal to give the clone to them, a life for a life. One of his people, Bayou Slim, was against this as he was promised the prisoners fate would be given to him. Slim pointed a gun at the mercs but before he could do anything Haruko shot him in the head. Whether or not Haruko managed to retrieve Adriana, she would leave the area.[1]
Some time later, Okano's plans were discovered, and was executed by Arasaka. Haruko managed to avoid disgrace after the Clone debacle, being spared of the fate of her late boss Seiji was punished with. She kept working under Arasaka, occasionally directed by CEO Kei Arasaka himself.[1][2]
2022 - 2023
In 2022, during the Fourth Corporate War, Kei Arasaka reassigned Haruko Kanawa to lead a covert operations team, which included Archane Jones, Mitsuko Taida, Martin Lasky, Cheng Kwan-Li, Glass, Colette Free and Kagekaze. The group was sent to a number of missions around the world while CINO and OTEC fought each other, and against Militech at the same time. Haruko was loyal and thorough during her operations, preferring to handle matters from a distance when possible, but was more than capable to lead her troops into battle personally.[2] When the war became hot, Haruko was withdrawn from the team to work for Kei personally as a special ops agent. For the following months, she performed several assassinations, but was otherwise withheld from pure combat.[3]
Haruko was present in the 2023 defense of Night City's Arasaka Towers against a Militech assault. After many months without direct combat, Haruko was itching for it. During that night, Kei sent her and a platoon of troops to the subbasement to protect the Reliquary Database Project. Haruko either ambushed the enemy in the subbasement command center, near the elevators, or at the database room, leading the fight into the submarine pit where the underwater escape tunnel was located. It's unknown what happened to Haruko, but the Militech assault on the towers ended up with the Night City Holocaust.[3]
