Legacy is a character in the Cyberpunk universe.

Biography

Early life

Legacy was trained since birth on a steady diet of classic rock and the traditional music of the Yurok (Oohl) people, giving them the sort of skill and vision that could propel an artist to great heights or crush them beneath the world. Although many rockerboys used their charisma, Legacy had true musical talent.

Legacy attended Night City University, where they spent the following three years working on a dozen jobs to push their way through college, eventually earning a degree in Music Studies. Rather than following the corporate ladder, the recent NCU graduate instead preferred to do their own thing, though a large number auditions led to a large number of rejections. Their time in college also made Legacy gain a wicked habit of playing Carrion and Crawlers, prompting them to regularly ask any friends if they wanted to play a campaign.[1][2]

2045

In 2045, Legacy moved into the Zolletta Hotel in Woodland Park to save costs and look for gigs to play. They also turned their attention to the neighboring Badlands, a place they had become fascinated ever since moving into the hotel. One time, while eating in a neighboring food truck known as Terminus, Legacy met the owner, Carri Zote. Ever since, Legacy went there every morning for a Koff Pop Coffee and to talk with her. Soon after both had a fling when Carri stayed at Legacy's hotel room one night. Form that point onwards, Legacy's routine was the same, morning coffee with Carri, purchase vegetables at the Burning Bright Bodega, buy incense and oils from the Breeze, play gigs, and try to find more people for the Carrion and Crawlers campaign Legacy was trying to start and which only Carri had joined so far.[1][2]

With time, Legacy began to feel more and more depressed as the in-between musical gigs they were getting was not enough, soon making them to grow more withdrawn and trying to look for a new inspiration. One day, while seeking for musical insight, Legacy started to take overnight campouts on the Badlands, near a tree and away from the noise and light of the city, not even bringing an Agent with them so they could "let the isolation seep into my soul." One night, however, Legacy didn't appear for their morning coffee at Carri's establishment. After some days, a worried Carri contacted with Fashanu Baines, a private detective living in Woodland Park. Unfortunately, he too went missing. This led Carri to contract a mercenary crew who, if they were quick enough, were able to rescue both from the nearby Badlands. As it turn out, Legacy had been in their campsite when a gunfire from a nearby Raffen Shiv raid prompted them to pick up their bicycle to return home in the middle of the night rather than to be caught in the crossfire. This, unfortunately, made Legacy hit a rock, wrecking the bike and breaking their leg. When Baines found Legacy, while returning in his car, they found themselves in a dust storm, and Baines rammed the car into a ridge, causing a rock to fall onto the vehicle and trap them both. The mercs were able to get them out of the wreck in time, and Legacy and Baines stayed in the From the Ashes clinic to recover.

After returning to Woodland Park, the mercenaries that had rescued them convinced Legacy to audition for Grace Steel, who was looking for members to play in her new band. Legacy was exceptionally good at playing their electronic drum kit and amp, making Grace include them in the Distortions. Soon afterwards, Legacy moved into one of the cube rooms at the recently established Forlorn Hope.

During the opening day of the Hope, Chevalier — a bandmate of Legacy — had his family visit the establishment to see them perform. While waiting for the event, Legacy played a game of Carrions and Crawlers with Chev's kids. If Legacy was not available during this day, they were replaced by Lilayah. With the opening night happening, the Distortions prepared for their performance, with Legacy setting the beats on the drum kit. One minute into their new song, The Long Walk Home, the Red Chrome Legion attacked the bar. Already expecting that outcome, Grace jumped onto the Legionnaires to defend the bar while the rest of the band stayed back.[1]

Notes

  • Legacy is described as a poet, gamer, and easy smile person.[2]
