Biography

Early life

During a visit to his uncle's home, a young Chevalier began to listen to old vinyl records. Chev's uncle explained to the young kid about each band playing and their greatest moments, and to emphasise his stories, the uncle started to play along the music with an air guitar, as if he was one of the members. This event is what gave Chevalier his love for music, wondering that if his uncle looked that cool with an air guitar, how cool would it be playing a real one on the stage.

After finishing college, Chevalier graduated as a historian by academic training, but his passion for music pushed him to pursue an additional career. Chev began to perform in local gigs, trying to build a career while loving his music and trying to look cool. At some point, Chev fell in love and married Isabel. They had two kids, the twins Damien and Daniella, and later another kid called Xavier. By this time, Chevalier was well known for being a discreet person, a family man, and a music lover.[1][2]

2045

In 2045, apart from working as a historian, Chevalier was also a street artist in Night City, performing in different establishments such as Kasim's coffeehouse in the Glen. One day in Kasim's, while playing his guitar and crooning a low-key chromatic blues song called Serendipitous Tears, Chevalier draw the attention of a group of mercenaries that were looking for members to play in Grace Steel's band. The guitarist was immediately interested, allowing them to record him for free, or if they didn't mention Grace's gig, by leaving 20eb on the box in front of him. His musical talent was enough for Grace to include him in her new group, the Distortions, who were the in-house band of the soon-to-reopen Forlorn Hope bar. Chev quickly befriended the staff of the Hope, including a new server by the name of Cid, who Chev frequently drove down from the Watson Development, as she lived quite far away from the bar.

During the opening day for the Forlorn Hope, Chevalier's family — his wife and three kids — visited the establishment to see him play. However, he received a voicemail from fellow bandmate Random, who had been kidnapped by a fixer known as the Gentleman due to a debt. Chev decided to not let the rest of his bandmates and family know, instead relying the message to the mercs working around the Forlorn Hope, whom he asked if they could rescue him. The mercs accepted, though it was up to them to be successful in their task. With the opening night happening, Chevalier joined the rest of the band to prepare their performance, soon starting to play his guitar. One minute into the band's new song, The Long Walk Home, the Red Chrome Legion attacked the bar. Already expecting that event, Grace jumped onto the Legionnaires to defend the bar while the rest of the band stayed back, with Chevalier taking the mic to lead the song.[1]
