These Student Apartments were located in the University District of Central Night City.

Overview

These were privately owned residential apartment buildings rented entirely by Night City University students. The three identical blocks to the west of the university were built during the campus expansion phase to house new students. The uppermost block was of older construction apartment houses. The buildings on the small block to the northwest were converted into apartments for students to rent as well.

These buildings, like most modern complexes, required electronic passkeys to enter. Once inside, further passkeys were needed to operate the elevators or enter an apartment. Inside, these areas ranged from high-tech playlands of the wealthy to thrift shop-decorated homes of the less well-to-do. Most students had some sort of personal computer on which they wrote papers and program assignments, download from the library database, and even access the Net. The difference between machines lied in the availability of money to buy giant color screens and gigachip programs. Most apartments also had at least one entertainment center, with components ranging from the parents' aging CD and DAT players to the new MusicVideo Chip players equipped with braindance-style headsets. Cable TV was still a favorite among the college set. With over 2000 channels to choose from it was actually possible to find something interesting to watch at most times. Artwork and fashion from the 1990's was the new vogue among students in 2020. They decorated their apartments with memorabilia like old cola ads and antique electronics pieces.

Other buildings in the neighborhood used for the same purpose included the Byrd Student Co-op Housing and the Ritz.[1]
