Nichiban Mall
Nichiban Mall was located in the Japantown district of Central Night City.
Overview
Nichiban Mall was a long building that housed many stores within it. One third of the mall was above ground, while the rest was underground. Nichiban was built with the inspiration of the classic underground Japanese shopping malls built in the late 20th century, such as the ones in Tokyo or Osaka.
The inside of the mall looked exactly like they did in modern Japan, with the only exception being the large amount of tourists. The clean, spare architecture featured Japanese accents, while tiny girls in crisp, pressed uniforms stood as greeters at almost every entrance. The shops were either popular food chains from Japan, or small household convenience shops catering to an exclusively Japanese public. All signs and directions inside the mall were in Japanese, so anyone not understanding the language would have a hard time getting directions.[1]
