Barley's was located in the Old Downtown district of Central Night City.
Overview
Barley's used to be a department store. When it went out of business, the landowner sought to rent the building to someone else, noting the property's strategic location near the New Harbor Mallplex. Sadly, she asked for too much, and by the time she lowered her price, the streetscum had broken all the windows and moved in.
Shortly after the establishment was abandoned, the gutted, smelly, filled with garbage and huge cockroaches building became the home of Maelstrom. They were a notorious boostergang who made the surrounding area their turf, but the situation was volatile at best due to the large number of businesses in the area servicing corporates and solos.[1]
During the Night City Holocaust of 2023, the nearby Bayview Condos shielded the Maelstrom hideout against the worse of the explosion. However, the following raging fires swept over their neighborhood, brining everything down. The gang survivors left this area and moved to the more secure Burleson Tower. Soon after, they would return to their former hideout to salvage anything they could find, bringing back the mummified corpses of their former comrades.[2]
