Gamescom is an annual video game conference in Cologne, Germany and is one of the largest events of its kind in Europe[1]. Cyberpunk 2077 had a large presence at the event.

Overview

A 14 minute gameplay demo was shown off to members of the press and public and introduces the Pacifica district and its two main gangs, the Voodoo Boys and The Animals. The demo displays two of the ways that players can traverse quests through the Netrunner and Solo player builds. Solo is shown to use weapons and strength to fight their way to the objective, whereas Netrunner uses stealth and Cyberware to hack their way to an objective.

Accompanying the gameplay demo is an hour long devloper Q&A session with developers Miles Tost, Pawel Sasko, Philipp Weber and Hollie Bennet. Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith also features live from Gamescom to give viewers a bit of information on the two gangs featured in the video.

The Gamescom heat of the cosplay contest also featured, with the winning costume going through to the next round along with a prize of $2000.[2]
