Delamain Corporation is a private transportation service operating in Night City.

Overview

Delamain offers taxi transportation through its armored taxi cabs, driven by artificial intelligence, boasting transport to and from anywhere in Night City for reasonable fares.

The company was once a human-operated venture, but repeated disappointments with hired human drivers caused management to acquire an AI to replace them. The AI, named Delamain after the company, quickly exceeded expectations, and then kept exceeding them until it bought out the company's owners. Normally, this would have resulted in NCPD rushing to subdue and disable the seemingly rogue AI, but Delamain's services proved so reliable that the AI-controlled company's existence was quietly tolerated. By 2077, Delamain was the most widely-chosen transport service in Night City. The company's fleet of vehicles was upgraded annually to improve its trademarked "Passenger Protection System (PPS)".

Usage of a Delamain cab always includes basic health insurance, protection against potential attacks, and conversation with one of Delamain's avatars. Clients can also upgrade to the Excelsior package, which includes the standard service package plus complete health coverage, active passenger medical scanning, combat mode, and free corpse disposal in the event of the client's death. The Excelsior package is expensive, but requires only a one-time payment and remains active for the rest of the client's lifetime.

Vehicle Fleet

A standard Villefort Cortes outfitted with an artificial intellegence. While other AIs on the market are little more than glorified chatbots connected to speech synthesizers, Delamain clearly possesses a well-defined personality. He can also bypass rush-hour traffic jams like its no one's business. Of course, Delamain is not so advanced to be self-aware... At least not according to his technical specs.

Delamain Cabs are made in partnership with Villefort and Militech, and each one is equipped with a simplified AI core which is responsible for the vehicle's autonomy in critical situations when contact with the main core has been cut.

Delamain and Rayfield partnered to create a taxi variant of the Excalibur AV.
