Sinnerman[Trivia 1] is a Side Job in Cyberpunk 2077.

Walkthrough

Some time after capturing Anders Hellman, V is contacted by Wakako Okada. Wakako offered V a job from one of her more demanding clients, Bill Jablonsky. Jablonsky wants to exact revenge for the murder of his wife, Caroline Jablonsky. The client wants everything to go exactly as planned, and is willing to pay V handsomely in return.

Wakako instructs V to meet with the client on at the Dewdrop Inn on the corner of Sixth and Brandon street in Arroyo, Santo Domingo.[Notes 1] She also informs V that the client wants to be present when his wife's murderer is neutralized by the mercenary.

After making their way to the meeting location, V waits for Jablonsky's arrival. V gets up from the bench and approached Bill, and talks to them. During the conversation, Bill reveals to V that he wants them to kill Joshua Stephenson, a notorious murderer, and instructs V to get in the driver's seat of his truck.

Inside the truck, Bill tells V that Stephenson is the one who murdered his wife, and that despite his conviction, he managed to get out of jail due to corporate involvement.[Notes 2] He also tells V that Stephenson is being transported out of the Night City Prison and is accompanied by other "regular" individuals. As the NCPD SUV passes by, Jablonsky instructs V to follow the SUV.[Notes 3]

If V successfully followed the SUV:

Despite the traffic hurdles, V and Jablonsky managed to follow the van transporting Stephenson up-to an underpass, where the van ran into a stationary semi-truck. After stopping the truck, Jablonsky and V both get out. Jablonsky–overcome with anger and his desire to kill Stephenson himself–pulls out his pistol and rushes over to the SUV but is shot by NCPD Lieutenant Vasquez.
If V talks to Joshua Stephenson:
After Vasquez shoots Bill, Stephenson urges Vasquez to keep V alive, and threatens to kill the deal with the corporation if V is shot. As Vasquez stands down, he contacts the NCPD about the incident, and allows V to speak with Joshua Stephenson, who wants V to tag along with them.[Notes 4]
Stephenson will introduce himself to V, and ask their name and their associates name. As Vasquez concludes his call to the NCPD, he makes a remark about having heard of V, and urging to Stephenson that V is too big a threat to take along with them.
If V goes with Stephenson:
V accepts Joshua's invite and gets inside the NCPD SUV, and Vasquez will proceed to drive them to their destination while Joshua and V talk.[Notes 5]
If V declines to go with Stephenson:
V declines Joshua's invite to tag along with them. The three get back into the SUV and continue their journey, while V stayed behind, concluding the job.
If V neutralizes Joshua Stephenson:
After Jablonsky gets shot by Vasquez, V engaged Stephenson and neutralized them. Afterwards, V called Wakako Okada, and tells her that they were able to neutralize Joshua Stephenson. Wakako Okada rewarded V with a payment of 9,300 eurodollars for completing the job.[Notes 6][Notes 7]

If V fails to follow the SUV:

V failed to follow the van and bring Joshua Stephenson to justice, too much annoyance of Bill Jablonsky, he will proceed to terminate the gig and be angry with V, demanding they exit the vehicle. After a while, Bill will send V and angry text informing V that they will not be receiving any payment.

Journal Entry

You're right about one thing – this job from Wakako stinks to high heaven. Besides, you're above doing plain ol' hit jobs. Probably no harm in talking to Bill Jablonsky and seeing what his deal is. But if I were you? I'd take a hard pass.

Notes

  1. It doesn't matter if the gig is accepted or not, the objective to meet with Bill Jablonsky will be the same regardless.
  2. On the World News Service channel, Ziggy Q has an interview with Braindance producer Rachel Casich on his show Night After Night with Ziggy Q. He interviews her about her new upcoming production, "The Passion of Joshua." In the interview she explains that they were explicitly looking for a death-row inmate to fulfill the main role, as the actor would have to die to fulfill it.
  3. It is not possible for V to use firearms against the SUV while following, as the vehicle is considered a friendly target.
  4. During this objective, Johnny Silverhand will project himself, sitting on the roof of the SUV and remarking that he could binge watch the situation all day.
  5. The quest will automatically change to There Is A Light That Never Goes Out when Joshua asks for a moment to think.
  6. Joshua's death or neutralization is the only objective required. Rachel Casich and Vasquez do not need to be killed or neutralized for the quest to progress if this path is chosen. This path will lock V out from the subsequent quests There Is A Light That Never Goes Out and They Won't Go When I Go.
  7. Depending on game difficulty and player level, Vasquez can be an extremely difficult enemy to defeat. As of Patch 2.0, engaging combat with him will also incur a one-star bounty.

Trivia

  1. The job is named after the Nina Simone song "Sinnerman" from the 1965 album "Pastel Blues."
