Overview
Indianapolis has become the major transportation center of the Midwest area because of highways leading to Chicago have all been destroyed. Indiana and Illinois both sit squarely astride the interstate shipping routes connecting the Great Plains and Appalachia but Indiana has severe restrictions on road use, which effectively limit interstate shipments to use Interstate highways.[1]
