Wow you should write novels on this stuff. I Can definitely see both sides of the argument there then. I Actually was totally unaware the Metro wiki used the tabs and i do very much like the look and functionality of them, however i completly agree on your point that information is now hidden and that it can also effect the user experience on mobile. I Am of the opinion that information shouldn't be hidden behind a tab that users might ignore or miss completly. For example i dislike how information is presented on something like the Star Wars wiki, with this page being used as an example. Relating back to our wiki, the Canon and Legends tab at the top would be RPG and Video Game and are actually two different pages, but i would see this as being 'hidden' information in the same way as tabbed infoboxes, just on a larger scale.
I'm not really familar with TES, but are the different 'games' presented as being in the same canon? For example is Solitute from Skyrim the same Solitute from the Online game? My thinking here is that as 2077 is a direct continuation, that a certain weapon that appears in both, is the same weapon and not a variation. As i mentioned before though, i don't know if we will see much in the way of dupliacate weapons, 50-odd years has passed between firestorm and 2077, and it would be like if the vietnam area M16A1 being widely used by gangs and armed forces over the current generation of AR-15 rifles (M16A4/M4A2 etc), especially in a world dominated by two gigantic arms manufacturers.
I Mean we have already seen it with the Militech Crusher. It appears in both the RPG and 2077, however they are both different variants, one being a 12gauge and the other being 20gauge as well as having a much different appearance. In that instance i think there should absolutly be two different pages, with perhaps the existing page being more like a navigation page?. I Don't think we will have many pages where that readers will be scrolling through pages of RPG information to get to the game info, and for those that do (im thinking specifically character pages) i would say its important to have all information there for users to see.
Perhaps we should look at a consistant page format across the wiki so that when you go to a character page or a gun page they all navigate the same. I implimented this when i created the Sourcebook pages, but really only because i did them almost all back-to-back. A consistant style along with the contents table would help navigation a lot more than it currently is. I Think the only problem is that headings and subheadings might not transfer over between articles in the same subject.
Mechemik i've bumped your status up, thanks for agreeing and no worries with your concerns. Do you have Discord so i can add you there? Perhaps we can continue these lines of thought over there.
Cheers
