Toshiba is a Japanese corporation from Tokyo, Japan in Cyberpunk 2020.

Overview

Toshiba Corporation is a Japanese multinational conglomerate based in Tokyo, Japan. Its diversified products and services include information technology and communications equipment and systems, electronic components and materials, power systems, industrial and social infrastructure systems, consumer electronics, home appliances, medical equipment, office equipment, as well as lighting and logistics. Toshiba has also collaborated with Arasaka on various products and supplied troops with equipment.

History

Toshiba was the first company established by Tanaka Hisashige, one of the most original and productive inventor-engineers during the Tokugawa / Edo period. After it was declared insolvent in 1893 and taken over by Mitsui Bank, it was renamed Shibaura Engineering Works. Toshiba was founded in 1939 by the merger of Shibaura Seisakusho (Shibaura Engineering Works) and Tokyo Denki (Tokyo Electric).

In 2000s, Toshiba made various electronic products that was licensed and bought from the Arasaka Corporation.
