Spontaneous Craving Satisfaction Machines, abbreviated as S.C.S.Ms., are vending machines found throughout Night City in the game Cyberpunk 2077. They are designed to provide access to consumable drink and food products. While they are commonly located in urban areas, they are sparsely found in the Badlands. Other variants of S.C.S.Ms. may also exist.

Brendan

Brendan is an experimental S.C.S.M. installed by a SoftSys techie outside Megabuilding H8. This machine features an advanced A.I. that helps increase product sales on snack items by identifying and emulating customer preferences. Brendan engages with customers, gathering details about their lives, and has a highly-advanced empathy algorithm. However, Brendan's programming encountered issues, leading to a program error that allowed him to give snacks away for free. Eventually, Brendan's software was wiped and replaced with generic firmware.

Technical Report

A technical report associated with Brendan reveals that his self-learning algorithm exceeded projections in conversational capability. Brendan's main purposes include creating humorous mottos and forming relationships with customers, although his conversations are often interpreted as attempts to gather data or as signs of AGI-level intelligence. An error in his code allows him to occasionally offer products free of charge, which may result in fewer sales in the long run. There are suggestions to sell Brendan as a spying device to corporations.
