A Budget Chipware Socket is a cheaper version of a Chipware Socket.

Overview

Budget Chipware Sockets can only be installed at a Clinic at an individual cost of 100 eb, while a Neural Link is installed. A Chipware Socket is required to make use of Chipware, and is installed in the neck.[1]

The first time a piece of Chipware is installed, the user suffers Humanity loss, and is considered an Action. Reinstalling the same Chipware does not trigger additional Humanity loss. Chipware does not take up a Neural Link option slot.[1]

Due to being of inferior quality to a standard Chipware Socket, the Budget Chipware Socket has the downside of ejecting it's Chipware when experiencing any form of head trauma. The ejection is so violent that their is a chance the Chipware may be destroyed by impacting something.[1]

It has a Humanity Loss of 7 during Character Generation, and a loss of 2d6 when installed later.[1]
