Yes I have turned off the comments, it is a decision the wiki staff all agrees would be better going forward. Keeping the conversations to the official forums, subreddit, or the Discussion Post section. Now addressing your concerns, believe me while I understand where you are coming from and can sympathize, the user has done nothing wrong or against the rules of the wiki. He simply shared a political view and wether it's a 'bad take' or not, he is entitled to his opinion. And he didn't present it in a hostile way. 

I would suggest that when seeing comments of ignorance, rudeness, or anything that may offend I say to just ignore it and avoid arguments. Instead maybe try to encourage others with an 'ignorant' opinion to instead look at it from another point of view and share personal experiences to try to encourage a respectful conversation. That being said we will be looking out for people making post or discussing things not relevant or completely off topic from the wiki. I do hope this helps with your concerns and if you have further questions I'm always here.
