Steel Vaqueros

The Steel Vaqueros are a nomad pack operating in western North America.

History

Early history - 2040s

The Steel Vaqueros started out as a nomad pack from Salinas in Northern California. Their ragtag convoys made the coastal highway run from the nearby Santa Cruz agriplots, all the way down to the cities of Southern California. The Vaqueros were smart and relatively honest; and they took in anyone who displayed skills, dependability, and who could keep up with the rest of the pack.

During the Time of the Red, the Steel Vaqueros had supply deals with several reclaimer groups in and around Night City, as well as the several nomad groups found around the metropolis. They recruited locals to act as junior members and "hold down the fort" while the rest of the pack was on the road. The Vaqueros were the major vehicle suppliers for the Honest Hiro's Used Car establishment.

2070s

In 2076, the Steel Vaqueros had a temporary camp in Badlands east of Night City, from which they ran convoys along the coast, as they had always done. Two Night Citizens, Dalton Estevan-Luis and his partner Summer, sought shelter after escaping from their pursuers in Night City. The Steel Vaqueros decided to take them in, but they were soon discovered by an Arasaka squad, who was also looking for them. A battle ensued, with the Vaqueros coming on top. Dalton and Summer wanted to join them, but they first had to prove their value by salvaging one of the Arasaka AVs. Following that, the nomad pack left the Badlands after packing up their belongings.
