Project Orion
Cyberpunk "2", formerly known under the codename Project Orion during pre-production, is an official upcoming sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 developed by CD Projekt RED.
Development
First announced on October 4 2022, the project used the codename 'Project Orion.'[1]
After the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion, the core team responsible for Cyberpunk 2077 moved to Boston, USA, and established a new hub of the North American CD Projekt RED branch. In 2024, the Boston team — with help from the Vancouver and Warsaw crews — were slated to start development on the sequel.[2][3]
In May of 2025, Project Orion entered pre-production and was re-titled internally to "Cyberpunk 2" as placeholder title.[4][5]
