David Martinez and his crew were given a job from Night City-based fixer Wakako Okada, in which they had to rescue hostages from the Maelstrom gang located at the Totentanz. At the request of Wakako, David brought along a new recruit named Julio. David provided Julio with a superior weapon to the one he had. David also told Julio not to rush things, alongside telling him to be behind David at all times, as he's new to the crew. Ignoring David's advice, Julio get's himself killed by running into an explosive trap. However the objective of the operation would be completed, with all hostages being rescued.

Someone from David's crew wrote "He blew us away with enthusiasm" on Julio's niche in the North Oak Columbarium.
