Iris Tanner
Iris Tanner is a Nomad Techie in Cyberpunk 2077.
Biography
Tanner is known for her uncooperative attitude towards Fixers, in particular Dakota Smith, who regards her as one of the best Techies she has met in her decades of living outside Night City. According to Smith, Tanner is not a great people reader, as she frequently does business with the Wraiths.[1]
In 2077, she was asked by to repair several vehicles at a Wraiths Outpost by a Wraith named Kojo, after their own Techie had fallen. While negotiating a price for the repairs at the Outpost, they gave Tanner an ultimatum; Either stick around or be chopped into pieces.
Though, while guarded, Tanner managed to get an old radio working and send an SOS distress call to Smith, whom reached out to the mercenary V to rescue her from the Wraiths Camp.
- If V takes on the gig:
- V manages to reach Iris Tanner in one of the buildings of the Outpost. After speaking with her, she inclines that the merc take her vehicle to escape the outpost.
- If V takes Tanner's vehicle to escape:
- Tanner was rescued from the Outpost by the mercenary, and safely escorted to Dakota Smith's garage. Here, she expresses that she is interested in working with the mercenary again and tells them to get what they're owed from the fixer.
- After leaving the garage, Tanner will text V, telling them that an additional reward is waiting for them at a Drop Point at the Sunset Motel.
- If V uses their own transport to escape:
- Tanner was rescued from the Outpost by the mercenary, and safely escorted to Dakota Smith's garage. Here, Smith will ask about the whereabouts of the car, where V will answers that the vehicle wasn't part of the deal. Smith then promises Tanner that she will receive new equipment.

Iris Tanner is a talented techie and the textbook example of someone whose job is their life. When it comes to a gig, it's never about the money, but the challenge. Still, that doesn't stop her from being a tough negotiator – it's the only way to be taken seriously. Despite being terse and hard to talk to, she's convinced she's good at reading people – what she doesn't realize is that her deep-seated desire to be admired for her skills actually makes her easy to manipulate. That's one of the reasons she got into serious trouble with the Raffen Shiv. On principle, Iris doesn't work with fixers, but she's willing to make an exception for Dakota – not because she likes her, but because this time she needs her.

Notes
- Despite appearing as a neutral character at first, it is not possible for V to neutralize Iris before talking with her.
- If V uses a motorcycle as their primary transport, Tanner will try to follow on foot but eventually stay behind.
