Cyberpunk 2077 Shards
A Datashard, commonly abbreviated to Shard, is a readable item in Cyberpunk 2077 which can contain various forms of information, including text, images, maps, schematics, audio, videos, and Braindances.
While there are a few shards used in quests which contain more than just textual information, the majority of those found in-game contain only text and can be picked up and optionally read for extra information or lore pertaining to the Cyberpunk universe. Each shard found in-game will be catalogued into the player's journal after being picked up. The player can choose to read them immediately or at a later time. There are many shards which can be found more than once. If already obtained, these will be displayed with a white silhouette, while shards not yet read will be displayed with a yellow one.

Encrypted
Some shards you find in the world will contain information hidden behind data encryption measures. To decrypt a shard, first either open it through the notification when you acquire it or find it later in the Shards tab under Journal in the main menu. Then, select CRACK SECURITY to unlock its secrets.
