A cyberpsycho squad, also known as cybersquad or psycho squad, is a police department division in many countries around the world. In the United States they are also known as C-SWAT teams. Their purpose is to deal with public threats resulting from cyberpsychosis that the standard police cannot handle by themselves.

Psycho squads deal with public threats resulting from cyberpsychosis that the standard police cannot handle by themselves.[1][2][3] They are armed with the best armor, equipment, and vehicles. Most carry weapons that start at the light cannon range and up. They are, by nature, not very nice people. Cyberaugmentation is so common and extensive to these squads that in fighting fire with fire, many officers end up on the brink of cyberpsychosis themselves.[4] Military and corporate security psycho squads are also known to exist.[5][6][7] In situations where such are not immediately available, ad-hoc detachments known as 'heavy details' are sometimes thrown together.[5]

C-SWAT units in Tokyo and other major Japanese cities are particularly noted for their heavy use of Attack AVs, APCAs, and tanks such as the Mitsubishi "Musashi" SWAT Mini-Tank.[7]

History

During the 2000s, cyberpsychosis became a serious problem for many countries around the world, especially in heavily populated areas. Although there were therapy options, the hardest part was getting the patient into the psychologist's office. When a metal-armored, cyberboosted maniac started to randomly kill people, the standard law enforcements were not a viable option. With this in mind, governments began creating specialized tactical units to hunt down and capture or kill murderous cyberpsychos. These psycho squads became common to most urban police departments, operating under names like C-SWAT (Cybernetic Special Weapons & Tactical Squad), PSYCHE-DIV, CYB-Enforcement or MAX-TAC (Maximum Force Tactical Division). Armed with the best in equipment and vehicles, most cybersquad members wore weapons that ranged from light cannons upward, also sporting all kinds of cyberware to take on similar threats. They were, by nature, not very nice people.

Over the years, however, the vast increase of cyberpsychotic cases forced these units to be separated to form their own police divisions, which soon became a common occurrence in many urban sprawls around the world.[2]
