Real animals in Night City are more than a rarity to behold. While cats were said to be the last to almost disappear, it is still possible to encounter them in a precious few locations. As of 2077, the Night City Environmental Task Force have been using stray cats to address the rat plague in Watson. Where these animals can be found, as was the case with Nibbles, it is clear that they are taken care of by the denizens of Night City, at least in terms of primary needs; however, it does appear that they remain technically unowned due to the absurdly extortionate pet taxes.

Cats can occasionally be found around Night City, including in the NCART, the NC Center for Behavioral Health buildings in City Center, at the rollercoaster in Pacifica, at Longshore Stacks in Dogtown and more.
