A four-star wanted level, the highest level that V can attain, shown to the right side of the minimap.

The Wanted Level in Cyberpunk 2077 can be seen at any time by glancing at the right side of the HUD, directly to the left of the minimap, and is an indication to determine how much V is wanted by the Night City Police Department and MAX-TAC (if applicable). There are a total of four Wanted stars that can be attained, and subsequent levels result in an increase of police activity.

Wanted levels can be lost by blending in with the crowd or fleeing the scene. The amount of time it takes to lose a Wanted Level is proportionate to the amount of stars that V has. Wanted levels are also cumulative - committing a crime at two stars can raise the level to three.

When V is out of sight, the wanted stars will flash repeatedly, indicating that the officers have lost sight, and will eventually disappear entirely, indicating that the wanted level has been lost.

Description

The NCPD are incredibly aggressive, and will open fire on V if they harm or kill a pedestrian or another officer. Higher wanted levels will result in more and more police being deployed, and a four-star wanted level will bring out MAX-TAC agents who will assume V is a cyberpsycho.

The NCPD deploy at various levels until four stars have been reached, after which MAX-TAC is the only agency deployed.

One Star

A one star wanted level is the lowest star level that V can attain, and takes the quickest time to lose. Up to two cop cars will follow the player and can be lost with enough driving. Drones may or may not be sent out at this level.

A one-star wanted level can be attained in the following ways:

  • Pointing a firearm at an officer
  • Shooting around a pedestrian (if the crime is reported)
  • Shooting at an officer with a firearm (regardless if the officer is hit)
  • Standing in an officer's view for too long
  • Running over a pedestrian with a vehicle
  • Trespassing on a crime scene after being told to leave
  • Punching an officer
  • Killing a pedestrian with a gun or bladed weapon
  • Stealing a vehicle (if reported)
  • Destroying a vehicle

Two Stars

A two star wanted level is the second star level V can attain. The NCPD are far more aggressive at a two star wanted level, and will begin to open fire and use lethal force without provocation. If V is in a vehicle, cops will either shoot from the vehicle or try to ram it. At least one Drone will be sent to follow the player, but more can follow the player and may open fire.

A two star wanted level can be attained in the following ways:

  • Killing an officer (with any weapon)
  • Running over an officer with a vehicle
  • Killing multiple pedestrians
  • Destroying multiple vehicles

Three Stars

A three star wanted level is the penultimate star level V can attain. The NCPD spawn in far greater numbers and will flank V to try and land killing blows. Multiple Drones will be sent to follow the player and, if V is in a vehicle, NCPD roadblocks will spawn in an attempt to stop them.

A three star wanted level can be attained in the following ways:

  • Repeatedly killing pedestrians after a two star wanted level has been attained
  • Repeatedly killing police officers after a two star wanted level has been attained
  • Killing multiple pedestrians at once (with grenades or other weapons)
  • Killing multiple officers at once (with grenades or other weapons)

Four Stars

A four star wanted level is the maximum wanted level available in Cyberpunk 2077, and reaching this threshold brings out the deployment of MAX-TAC. The NCPD will no longer spawn and are replaced with squadrons of MAX-TAC agents who will relentlessly pursue V at every turn. Practically no civilian traffic will appear on the roads, being replaced purely by MAX-TAC and robots. If V carjacks a vehicle, the agents will open fire on it.

Four star wanted levels take the longest to lose and can be attained by repeatedly killing pedestrians, officers, or committing any actions that would lead to a star increase after three stars.
