Old Combat Zone

The Old Combat Zone was a lawless Combat Zone located in central Night City during the Time of the Red.

History

2010s - 2030s

During the late 2010s and early 2020s, Night City began to expand by reclaiming land to the southeast, filing a portion of San Morro Bay. This new area was intended to become a shining beacon of industrialism, but the Fourth Corporate War put a stop to those plans. Soon after the chaos of the war, this unfinished and forsaken district turned into one of the worst combat zones the metropolis had ever seen, quickly expanding and absorbing the neighboring blocks. In the following years, it became the seed from which the rest of the Combat Zones of Old Japantown, Little China and South Night City grew from.

2040s

By the 2040s, the aptly dubbed Old Combat Zone was the worst region in all of Night City, long abandoned to psychos and dangerous gangs. On the bright side, groups of edgerunners strived to rebuild it, and slowly but surely they had began to reclaim it. Of them, the most notorious were Edgerunners Inc, who aimed to reconnect the district with the rest of Night City, and the Faded, who instead wanted to keep the city from interfering with them.

By 2045, Edgerunners Inc. provided most of the security in the zone, with their leader, Brick Coleman, acting as the unofficial city manager.
