As of 2020, Colorado Springs was destroyed, and the state of Colorado was overrun with nomads after the Collapse. The attack on Colorado Springs was part of the First Orbital War in 2008, during which a two-ton rock was dropped by the ESA's Tycho colony, leading to the majority of the US Armed Forces command being killed.

Economic Context

By 2020, Colorado's economy was based on genetically-engineered sheep, with main industries including aeronautics and communications. Biotechnica, a corporation, purchased counties like Rio Blanco and Moffat after the Collapse and founded White City, boosting state government income.
