All Along the Watchtower
All Along the Watchtower[Trivia 1] is a Main Job in Cyberpunk 2077. It concludes "The Star" ending and awards the associated achievement.
Walkthrough
Several weeks have passed after the raid on Arasaka Tower[Notes 1], and V wakes up in Panam Palmer's Warhorse at the Coronado Dam overlooking Night City. Panam and V talk about how far they've come since they met, which is interrupted by V coughing up blood- a sign of their worsening condition; as well as their plans to leave Night City with the rest of the Aldecaldos to head for Arizona, along with all the plundered loot they've stolen from the corporation and discuss plans to use their connections to try and save V's life.
After talking, Panam heads back to her car, telling V to take their time looking at the city one more time before they get in the car and head to meet up with the others. As they ride to the Solar Arrays in Jackson Plains, they are joined by Mitch Anderson, who playfully teases Panam about the upcoming sandstorm as they drive to the meeting point.
Once arrived at the Solar Arrays, V talks with the other Aldecaldos–Cassidy Righter and Carol Emeka–before rejoining Mitch and Panam, who discuss using a famous Aldecaldo Tunnel to evade both Arasaka, who'll be looking for their stolen tech at every checkpoint, and Border Patrol, who'll want to stop any trespassers who try to jump the Border Crossing.[Notes 2]
If V has high enough Body:
- V inquires Panam and Mitch about the possible security measures that the SoCal Border Patrol will have on the way to the tunnel, which Panam will respond by telling V to not worry, explaining that they'll know what to do, as well as mentioning that Cassidy and Carol will also help distract Arasaka from ever finding them.
Mitch and Panam tell V that after they escape through the tunnel, they'll collapse it to prevent anyone from following them, then making their way towards the meeting point with the rest of the Aldecaldos, then altogether moving towards Tuscon. Panam reassures V, telling them they won't be alone anymore starting today.
Boarding the Basilisk, the group charge across the Badlands and against the upcoming sandstorm, with V and Panam following them not far behind as they use it as cover to escape the Border Patrol drones, with Cassidy and Carol breaking off to distract them as planned, wishing them good luck. Heading to the tunnel entrance, V hands the controls to Panam, who use the modded Turbothrusters to ram through and into the tunnel, before making their way out the other side.
Having left Night City, the following ending cinematic will play where V will get out of the Basilisk to sit back and take in the night air as it hovers across the open water. Sitting back, V looks at the bullet pendant they received from Misty Olszewski, before taking it off and letting go of the necklace.
Journal Entry
- So you decided to ditch the City of Dreams - start anew, start fresh. I went through a few fresh starts in my life, too. And you know what? Don't regret a damn thing. You won't either. Give my regards to the South. And when you hear Johnny's voice, go ahead and smile, but don't bother to answer. It'll just be a voice on the radio recorded long ago, a fading reproduction, a flickering memory. You'll be someone completely different. Take care, V.
Objectives
- Join Panam.
- Talk to Panam.
- Get in the car.
- If V called their romance to say goodbye during Op55n1 Nocturne:
- Find out who's waiting for you at the camp.
- Talk to Judy/River/Kerry.
- Discuss the plan with Mitch and Panam.
- Get in the Basilisk.
- Talk to Panam.
- Follow the nomads.
- Cross the border.
Notes
- ↑ Panam mentions that Mitch has been in bed for weeks after attacking Arasaka, indicating this to be the amount of time that has passed since Nocturne Op55N1.
- ↑ V's partner can be waiting at the camp depending on who they've called to say goodbye to during Nocturne Op55N1:
- Panam Palmer: No one extra will be waiting as V is already united with his romantic partner.
- Judy Álvarez: Judy was picked up by Carol Emeka and brought to the camp. She will leave Night City with V and the Aldecaldos.
- Kerry Eurodyne: Kerry came to the camp in a Delamain Cab. He tells V that he cannot leave as he now finally has Night City "by the throat" and is simply afraid to leave. He also cannot bear the thought of having to return to Night City alone (after V's presumed death) in the not so distant future. As they part ways, Kerry asks V to give his album a listen pre-release.
- River Ward: River came to the camp himself. As he does not want to leave Night City, including his sister and her kids, behind, he parts ways with V.
Trivia
- ↑ The job is named after the Bob Dylan song "All Along the Watchtower" from the 1967 album "John Wesley Harding."
