Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese automotive manufacturer based out of Toyota City, Japan in Cyberpunk 2020.[1]

Overview

Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Toyota, Aichi, Japan. In 2017, Toyota's corporate structure consisted of 780,000 employees worldwide and, as of December 2019, was the tenth-largest company in the world by revenue.

History

Toyota was founded in the Aichi Prefecture in 1933 by Toyoda Kiichiro, who then founded what later became the Toyota Motor Corporation as a division of the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Ltd. In 1957 Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., was established, and the following year the company released the Toyota sedan, its first model to be marketed in the US.

During the 1960s and '70s the company expanded at a rapid rate and began exporting large numbers of automobiles to foreign markets. Toyota also started buying many companies to add to it's growing list of subsidiaries. Toyota became the largest automobile manufacturer from Japan.

At some point in the 2000s after the Collapse, Toyota bought out Detroit based automobile manufacturer Chevrolet after it filed for bankruptcy. The new company was renamed Toyota Chevrolet and was now a subsidiary of Toyota.
