Poland

Poland, officially the Polish People's Republic, is a country located in East-Central Europe.

History

Due to the Crash of '94, foreign investors—who had kept the country afloat since the fall of Communism—decided to pull out, and martial law was declared. By 1999, Poland had managed to find its footing again due to its thriving criminal underground, despite the government trying to get rid of it.

In late 2018, Poland was invaded by the Czech Republic, which was spurred on in secret by the European Economic Community, who feared the Czech Republic's economic success, and hoped to vilify its government to the world and sew distrust within its people.

Government

In 1994, after the global stock-market crashed, the president of Poland declared martial law. They then instituted the Harbingers, a taskforce dedicated to taking down organised crime using brutal methods. This should make Poland a police state, but in actuality the Harbingers are too few in numbers to do much of anything.

Much of Polish society is also controlled by the Church of Poland, a radical sect that opposes the Neo-Catholic Reformation bringing modern societal values into the religion.

Culture

Poland is on paper a very poor country, but its black market keeps it afloat. Goods found in Poland include drug-making, operating shadow clinics, and trading in illegal software and Cyberware.
