Changes is a Main Job in Cyberpunk 2077.

Walkthrough

As long as the ending path ends with V connecting into Mikoshi (hence this excludes the Arasaka and Phantom Liberty paths), the player will be presented with this mission.

Changes can start in one of two ways, which depends on the choice the player makes regarding Jackie's body after The Heist. However, the mission will open up in similar fashion; V will be presented with a vision of them going to the ninth floor behind Misty's shop, as is what happened during the third half of Nocturne Op55N1.

  • If V took Jackie's body to Viktor Vektor after thus resulting in Arasaka stealing his engram, V will be given one last chance to talk to him.
  • If V took Jackie's body to Mama Welles or if the body was left in the Delamain Cab they escaped on, upon exiting into the roof, V finds their bullet necklace and takes it as the world around them fades away.

Either way, this will lead to the cyberspace inside Mikoshi. Alt Cunningham will recite a poem (both listed below) as V walks towards the beam of light, taking them into another section of cyberspace. After doing so, V will have a talk.

The conversation soon shifts into a shocking realization for V; with Alt having separated their and Johnny's psyches throughout the raid on Arasaka Tower, the extended exposure to Johnny's construct has irreparably damaged their body. Alt gives them a choice; return to their body with six months to live, or let Johnny keep their body.

What follows after Changes if V returns to their body depends on the previous mission. If the previous mission was (Don't Fear) The Reaper or Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Changes will always lead to Path of Glory. If the previous mission was Belly of the Beast, the next mission will be All Along the Watchtower.

If Changes ends with Johnny keeping their body, the mission will always lead to New Dawn Fades, disregarding the previous mission and any ending path.

Journal Entry

This job has no journal entry.

Objectives

  • Go to the roof.
  • If Jackie was not delivered to Viktor at the end of The Heist:
    • Pick up the necklace.
  • If Jackie was delivered to Viktor Vektor at the end of The Heist:
    • Talk to Jackie.
  • If the previous mission was Belly of the Beast or (Don't Fear) The Reaper:
    • Talk to Johnny.
    • Enter the well to return to your body.
  • If the previous mission was Knockin' on Heaven's Door:
    • Talk to V.
    • Enter the well to return to V's body.
  • Cross the bridge and enter cyberspace forever.
    • Touch Alt to leave with her into the unknown.

Notes

  • The Arasaka path is the only one which doesn't go through Changes despite also visiting Johnny.

Alt's Poems

If completing Belly of the Beast or (Don't Fear) The Reaper, Alt will recite a fragment of one of the poems in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. If completing Knockin' on Heaven's Door, she will instead recite the final passage from Sailing to Byzantium.

Belly of the Beast / (Don't Fear) The Reaper poem (V's)
"Let us go, now you and I..."
"Through certain half-deserted streets"
"When the evening is spread out against the sky"
"Like a patient etherized upon a table"
"Let us go, through half deserted streets"
"The muttering retreats"
"Of restless nights in one-night cheap hotels,
"And sawdust restaurants with oyster-shells:"
"Streets that follow like a tedious argument"
"Of insidious intent"
"To lead you to an overwhelming question..."
"Oh, do not ask, 'What is it?'"
"Let us go and make our visit."
Knockin' on Heaven's Door poem (Johnny's)
"Once out of nature I shall never take"
"My bodily form from any natural thing"
"But such a form a Grecian goldsmiths make"
"Of hammered gold and gold enameling"
"To keep a drowsy Emperor awake"
"Or set upon a golden bough to sing"
"To lords and ladies of Byzantium"
"Of what is past, or passing, or to come"

Trivia

  • The quests' title comes from the David Bowie song "Changes."
  • The two cats V sees in the stairwell are a reference to the first Matrix movie, where the main character Neo (played by Keanu Reeves) also sees the same cat twice while walking up a stairwell.
