The DR-12 Quasar is a Tech Revolver manufactured by Darra Polytechnic in Cyberpunk 2077.

Characteristics

The Quasar is a semi-automatic, repeating revolver with an automatic secondary option. Its unique design is characteristically common of the Darra Polytechnic Corporation's marketing niche of being impressively appealing to the eye whilst not being of particularly decent quality in grade. The Quasar's drum magazine, located at the rear of the weapon, can hold up to 20 rounds, which are filled with birdshot, and effectively makes the Quasar a powerful machine pistol should the operator be able to charge it to capacity. The philosophy behind the choice of birdshot rounds is simple - projectile speed. Inside the Quasar's barrel, there are four electroconductive rails opposing one another, resulting in an incredible magnitude of force capable of shooting projectiles through half an inch of solid lead surface. True to Darra Polytechnic's nature, the revolver is made of low quality, cheap plastics and subpar metals that lower costs, making it an affordable purchase for the disparately poor.

Because of the weapon's integrated systems, it is not possible to install a muzzle attachment, but a scope can always be installed.

DARRA POLYTECHNIC DR-12 QUASAR

The Quasar is perhaps the most distinctive weapon you can find in Night City. It features an unusual, angular frame, classic disc magazine and one-of-a-kind techology. After all, the Quasar is an electromagnetic gun. The barrel holds four electrically charged shafts, which, in combination with the bullet, form opposing electromagnetic poles. The resulting forces release the bullet – at lightning speed. A shot from the unassuming Quasar can even pierce armored vechicles^[sic] and bulletproof vests.

Trivia

• The Quasar closely resembles the Stealth Pistol from Deus Ex (2000), which itself is a shout-out to the Seburo Compact-eXploder, a compact bullpup machine pistol from the Appleseed manga created by Masamune Shirow.

Changelog

• Patch 2.1 - Increased damage by 8%, Headshot Damage Multiplier increased from +150% to +175%.
  • Tech weapons that fire in full auto when fully charged (Senkoh LX, DR-12 Quasar, HA-4 Grit): They will now be more stable and do roughly +15% more damage when the charge mode is active.
