I think Boots is thinking more of each game has it's own subpage for an item. The tabs I showed him looks like tabs but are actually subpages of the main page, so for instance if we had a weapon called Laser Rifle, there'd be a subpage "Laser Rifle/2020", "Laster Rifle/2077" etc. I'm honestly against doing it that way unless each one had a lot of content to warrant having its own subpage and would rather do split headers for each game and they have their own infoboxes for each header.
