The Marina District is a neighborhood in Central Night City, known for its waterfront and industrial history.
Overview
The Marina District was one of the neighborhood districts of Central Night City, located to the northeast and part of Little Europe. It was built on the northern waterfront of Night City and was divided into Upper Marina and East Marina. Prior to the 2000s, the area was home to local private yachts and a fishing fleet.
Upper Marina
Upper Marina resembled San Francisco's North Beach and Marina districts. It included notable locations such as the 24 Hour Cafe, the Night City Ferry Building, the Department of Motor Vehicles, and the Marina Green Jogging Path. The Del Coronado Bridge is also located in Upper Marina.
East Marina
East Marina is another section of the Marina District, located to the northeast. Notable locations in East Marina include Joe's Diner, the ILLW Hiring Hall, the Prudhoe Pride Oil Tank, and the Reunification Hall and Social Club. Gangs such as Gilligans, Water Rats, and Wild Things were prominent in this area.
Cultural and Criminal Aspects
The Marina District was influenced by heavy industrialization in North Oak and South Night City, evolving into a seedy industrial district by the late 2010s. Local pirates made their homes in the area, and criminal presence increased, with groups like the Water Rats and Wild Things being a nuisance for locals. The Night City Harbor Police had to employ stringent measures to deal with smugglers and pirates.
Transportation and Facilities
NCTC bus connections were available through lines 17, 22, and 72. A modern ferry building connected the Marina District with the suburbs of North Oak and Pacifica. Scuba diving classes were taught in the Marina District, although the waters of Del Coronado Bay were very polluted.
